When I was in Namibia I met a guy who’s now a good friend of mine. He lives in Dubai. An excuse for not visiting him didn’t exist. So I decided to see him for 10 days. I was so excited!
My friend lives in the area called Media City. It’s so strange how different Dubai is compared to the rest of the world. You can only drink alcohol in hotels and if you want to buy it in a store, you need a license.
But we were okay. We went to the hotels and got some beer and cider there.
When I arrived I was so impressed. Flying over Dubai showed me how everything was built out in nowhere. And as soon as I landed, I just saw all the tall buildings. Amazing!
There are so many things to see in Dubai. First day we decided to go to Dubai Mall. Dubai Mall is the world’s largest mall based on total area. It’s a part of the Downtown Dubai complex which includes 1,200 shops!
So if you get tired of shopping you can also go to the Aquarium or to the huge, japanese book store where you can read your book, enjoy japanese snacks and watch the fountains outside the mall.
Right outside the Dubai Mall you’ll find Burj Khalifa, which is the tallest building in the world. It’s 828.8 m tall. Inside the Dubai Mall you can buy tickets to go “On the top”. But what you don’t get to know is that you only go 452 m up. I was a little dissapointed even though the view was fantastic! Crazy.
In the back it is actually possible to see some of the hotel called Burj Al Arab.
The next couple of days we did some more tourist stuff. We went skiing in the Emirates Mall, tanned at the beach close to the 7 star hotel Burj Al Arab, shopped in the bazaars, got some drinks in the hotels, visited the palm island and smoked shisha at the Atlantis hotel and went to Abu Dhabi to go to Ferrari World. Ferrari World has the fastest rollercoaster in the world with a top speed of 240 km/h in 5 sec.
I want to thank my friend so much for this amazing trip. He chose to spend 2 out of his 4 vacation weeks on me in Dubai.
